Q1. For your main post, choose one of the following topics to discuss:
1.  Compare and contrast the advantages and disadvantages of the two varieties of distributed operating systems discussed in this chapter: a process-based DO/S and an object-based DO/S. If you were the system administrator, which would you prefer? Explain your reasoning with specific examples.
2.  Review several articles on the subject of wireless sensor networks OR distributed operating systems that appeared in a recent computing magazine or academic journal (older than 5 years is not acceptable) and include the following: Give a summary of the article, including the primary topic, your own summary of the information presented, and the author’s conclusion.
Requirement: One Page
Deadline: 6 Hours.

Q2. With the recent NSA leaks, numerous foreign governments are making statements like the following, “The Canadian provinces of British Columbia and Nova Scotia have already forbidden any government data from being stored or processed by providers located in the United States.” They go on to state that incidents involving other countries depict the same reluctance to use US CSPs. For this week’s discussion, you should research similar rules in other countries (especially the European Union).
In your posting, include answers to all of the following questions:
·  What are the rules for other countries in regard to personal data security in cloud computing?
·  Why do they have these rules?
·  Do you believe they may be changed over time?
·  What are some basic differences in the privacy rules among the US, Asia and Europe?
·  How can these rules be enforced when many cloud provider’s use data centers spread throughout the world?
·  In your opinion, will there eventually be one standard for personal data privacy? Or are the differences too culturally embedded to overcome?

Q3. Pick one from the Below Topics and Write Answer as if you’re an IT Manager.
This presentation from NIST is a little dated, yet it still provides a good overview of Cloud Computing Management: “Presentation on Effectively and Securely Using the Cloud Computing Paradigm v26”.
1.  One of the benefits of cloud computing is its elasticity / ability to scale on demand. Explain this concept.  How would an IT Manager use it to ensure the right amount of computing storage, processing and virtual network bandwidth is being used?  Provide examples of when a cloud environment would need to be scaled up and scaled down.
2.  Explain the steps you would take to migrate an in-house application or service to a cloud service.  Include how you’d ensure a smooth transition to the cloud.
3.  As an IT Manager using cloud services, how do you ensure your data is properly protected?  What steps would you take and questions would you ask?  Include a discussion about disaster recovery.
4.  A key service provided by CSPs is logging and auditing. Explain how you’d ensure the right information is being logged by your CSP.  Include the type of information that should be logged and who’s responsible for reviewing the log data.  Make sure you backup your answer.
5.  Explain the role of Service Level Agreements (SLAs) with CSPs.  Provide examples of SLAs.  How would an IT Manager ensure an SLA is being met by the CSP?  What can the IT Manager do if it’s not.
6.  Review the SaaS Maturity Levels.  Explain and provide an example for each.
7.  Explain the concept of Utility Computing. How could this benefit a small business without a lot of computing needs? Provide at least one additional reference.
8.  Explain the concept of Service Oriented Architectures. Include it’s benefits and challenges and how it could be used within an IT Department. Provide at least one additional reference.
9.  Explain Cloud Economics. Why is this an important concept for IT Managers using cloud services?  Provide at least one additional resource from the past two years on this topic.
